Synergie is a Beat Them All 2.5D Co-op whose guideline was « Encourage and reward cooperation ». To do this, the 2 players must share a sword and a shield that they can place and exchange to trigger zone effects. This concept was particularly close to my heart since it is the one I pitched and which was the first selected among more than 20.
During this project :
My contribution:
Set up with 3 other GD of a GameConceptDocument.
Designed and Integrated the majority of mechanics and game systems (Multiplayer System, Camera, Characters, Controls, Combo System, FightScene System, Weapons Systems)
Designed and integrated VFX for the prototype and the final game (Sprite, ParticleSystem, Shader…)
Designed and managed a part of the In-Game UI as well as the UI and the level ending Animation.
Helped with the localization of the game in English and French.
The constraints encountered:
1st Multiplayer Project: The multiplayer brings many reflections of Social Design to make players interact and communicate with each other. In addition, it also brought a higher complexity layer for engine integration as well as debugging.
The project team: The lack of investment from some team members to bring certain problems. Indeed, we were originally a team of 4 then 6, but in reality the number of active people was mainly 2 or 3 at most.
This project brought me a lot, from a technical point of view, but especially human, regarding what to do or not to do to motivate and guide a team of which I naturally became the leader.
